Living the city life is exciting, fast-paced, and full of opportunity, so at the end of the day it’s nice to come home to a space that reflects that vibrant lifestyle — without the chaos and traffic. Urby was founded with the intention of creating light + airy apartment designs, energetic public spaces, and friendly property teams. Living here combines everything we love about being city dwellers with the calm oasis of home. Keep reading to learn more about Newark Urby + the exclusive offer for The Hoboken Girl readers.

The first Urby property opened in 2016 and has since expanded with properties in New York City, Jersey City, Harrison, Stamford, and Dallas, as well as future developments underway in major cities like Philadelphia Miami, and D.C. Newark Urby is the newest property to open in the Essex County area and began leasing this past October. Located at 155 Washington Street, Newark Urby features 250 brand new apartments in a mixed-use community — meaning it goes beyond just residences and also houses community space and a cafe. The building was restored and modernized from a historic 18-story Art Deco tower. Designed by Amsterdam-based architect Concrete, Newark Urby features imaginative interior design that preserves some of the original design elements to create residences that blend 1920s architectural charm with contemporary finishes and functionality.
Some of the amenities included at Urby  are generous fitness areas,  serene outdoor spaces, and onsite cafes — this is the kind of place where residents can work from home in style. With a hospitality inspired mindset, the Urby team also places an emphasis on being flexible, empathetic, and in-touch with the needs of their residents and visitors.

Newark Urby includes studios, as well as one, two, and three bedroom apartments. The common spaces are flooded with natural light, highlighting the  warm wood finishes, lush greenery, and playful art + décor.
The residences feature built-in storage, hardwood floors, upscale kitchen finishes, and an individual washer/dryer in each apartment. The large windows provide panoramic views of the surrounding neighborhood. Smart technology systems with Latch keyless smartphone entry and Amazon package lockers bring convenience literally right to your doorstep.

The ground floor courtyard was designed by internationally recognized landscape architecture firm, Bureau Bas Smets, and creates an urban oasis for residents wanting to escape the rush of city life. Enclosed by a tranquil bamboo forest — yes, really — the courtyard includes three circular seating areas and is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Residents at Newark Urby have a host of amenities to enjoy including a rooftop terrace with BBQ grills and a private dog run. The ground floor houses an outdoor courtyard and a co-working space with reservable conference working rooms. The fitness center features state-of-the-art equipment including full weight racks, free weights, peloton bikes, treadmills, ellipticals, a yoga studio, + more.

“Urby has reimagined urban living through intuitive design and commitment to community. Our units are smartly designed with a focus on natural light and flow. We are thrilled to be leasing at Newark Urby, which is becoming a fantastic residential complement to the thriving, cultural hub of Newark,” Urby Founder, David Barry told The Hoboken Girl.  “We look forward to connecting with the city’s energy and spirit while contributing thoughtful design and engaging experiences for our residents.”
